The integration of psychotherapy and yoga concepts and techniques is an excellent way to address the whole person. Psychotherapy approaches tend to be more top-down oriented, meaning it focuses primarily on thoughts and emotions. Yoga approaches tend to be bottom-up oriented because it addresses body awareness, breath-work, and mindfulness through movement. A two-pronged approach which combines these methods provides great opportunity for growth and personal-development. Workshops, groups, and other events offered at Rebellious Wellness HQ are each created with this in mind. 

Online Zoom Yoga

Yoga is an effective and proven method of relieving stress and managing anxiety. Each 45-min session provides an opportunity to learn and practice mindful movement, breath-work, body relaxation, and meditation. Join a session online, from your own home using the free Zoom app. Anyone is welcome to join, and you're not required to share your video with the group.

Therapeutic Yoga for Emotional Balance

Mind-Body Therapy for Emotional Balance and Healing.

Therapeutic Yoga for Emotional Balance offers a healing space for people with moderate symptoms of anxiety and depression. Using Restorative Yoga as medium, this 8-week group program provides guidance through exercises that support body-relaxation, breath-work, and rewiring negative mind-body patterns, leading to lasting embodied insights. Gradual and progressive exercises are offered as new experiences within the body-mind to help shift unhelpful and distressing patterns. For those who’ve experienced chronic dissociation from their body as a result of coping with anxiety, depression, or trauma, this approach is ideal. It takes time to learn how to truly connect and be present with body; it can be uncomfortable at first, which is why a supportive, structured, and healing environment is so crucial. 
 

  • All levels welcome. No experience needed. 

  • Registration required at least 1 week prior to start of group. 

  • Group size is limited to 7 participants.

Within the seemingly still moments of this practice, subtle action taking place within brings the entire being into a cohesive state of release. When we learn to truly relax, we can unravel any lingering knots in our body-mind and release the feelings or sensations that tension has tried to protect us from.

  • Booking and payment required at least 1 week in advance.

East Meets West Workshop

This engaging and transformative workshop combines ancient yogic wisdom and modern psychotherapy practices with the simple, though not necessarily easy, ultimate goal of living skillfully. 

 

By exploring yoga's 10 ethical principles, the "yamas" (social restraints) and "niyamas" (self-disciplines), in combination with cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) strategies, we create modern-day methods of authentically being in the world. Incorporating yoga's fundamental core-values into our everyday living acts as a guiding light as we make our way through the darker, more challenging portions of our journey in life.

 

This single-session 3 hour workshop combines detailed information regarding the yamas and niyamas and practical application of this wisdom using cognitive-restructuring and guided asana/yoga postures.
