Young Adult Issues

As a young adult, you face many concerns and issues unique to your particular phase of life and developmental stage - many issues that inspire a great deal of anxiety and insecurity! Add to that the fact that today's generation of young adults face significant differences from previous generations thanks to the enormous digital and technological advances made within recent years (relative to our history). Changes to cultural, political, sexual, religious, marital, and economic practices and ideas are real and must be faced by young adults often without the experiences, traditions, and wisdom of previous generations to call upon.

Therapy for young adults in particular offers a supportive space to:

  • Counter self-criticism, perfectionism, or insecurity with self-acceptance and compassion.

  • Navigate social change and advocacy and manage the conflict, confusion, and fatigue associated.

  • Clarify your focus, direction, and future vision.

  • Develop boundaries, inward and outward.

  • Harness a sense of gratitude, joy, and mindfulness.

  • Empower you by learning and living your strengths, values, and passions.

  • Manage interpersonal conflict and creating satisfying relationships.

  • Create and find a true sense of self and personal identity.

  • Work through general life transitions such as attending/leaving college, building a career, breakups, new relationships, moving, individuating from family, etc.

Nobody, as long as he moves among the chaotic currents of life, is without trouble.
-Carl Jung
