Let's rebel with purpose - together.
Refuse the status quo.
THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKIN' ABOUT
A warm mug of coffee with a soft purring cat in my lap, curling up with a fluffy blanket and a book on a rainy day, watching the birds from my backyard porch rocker, a graceful movement found between one yoga pose and the next, walking in nature on a foggy cool morning... It's these sorts of moments, especially when shared with a loved one, that are most precious to me.
I have always been a person who feels deeply and intensely. While this can be painful at times, it lends itself to my rebellious spirit, empathetic heart, and creative vision.
Personal growth is my greatest passion. The world can only grow and change as much we as individuals are willing to grow and change.
MY APPROACH TO THERAPY
The therapist-client alliance is of utmost importance to me. My job is to hold space for honest, vulnerable, human connection. You're not alone in your journey, and I'm here walk with you as you explore the infinite meanings to be made from the human experience in all its beauty, complexity, and suffering. While the therapy process covers a lot of ground, I believe being heard, understood, and validated is deeply healing in and of itself. I aim to weave an empathetic, compassionate, and strengths-focused approach with real/straight-talk that will challenge you towards building insight and putting that insight into action.
My theoretical framework is built primarily from psychodynamic, experiential, and cognitive-behavioral leanings. I believe that both conscious and subconscious forces underpin the distress we encounter in our daily lives and relationships, and that our past experiences greatly impact our subconscious. Together we work to revise distressing feelings and patterns of thinking and coping that no longer serve you.
Therapy doesn't have to be a drag, but it's also not magic. It takes commitment to make desired changes. However, letting your feelings out and sorting through your thoughts can greatly relieve the burden. At times you may experience discomfort, but this often means you're growing and learning. I can support you and serve as your guide as you work towards healing and empowerment.
