MY APPROACH TO THERAPY

The therapist-client alliance is of utmost importance to me. My job is to hold space for honest, vulnerable, human connection. You're not alone in your journey, and I'm here walk with you as you explore the infinite meanings to be made from the human experience in all its beauty, complexity, and suffering. I aim to weave a compassionate and strengths-focused approach with real/straight-talk that will challenge you towards building insight and putting that insight into action.
My approach blends elements from different theoretical frameworks in order to tailor therapy to each individual. I primarily favor aspects of Existential-Humanism, Internal Family Systems Theory, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
I believe that both conscious and subconscious forces underpin the distress we encounter in our daily lives and relationships, and that our past experiences greatly impact our subconscious. I believe in building one's personal agency and accountability. I also take into account social, cultural, and political struggles that impact one's mental health.
Together, we work to revise distressing feelings and patterns of thinking and coping that no longer serve you. We work to build protective boundaries, develop ways of coping with oppressive systems, find agency to change what is within your control, and create pockets of joy even in the midst of distress.
THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKIN' ABOUT
-
A warm mug of coffee with a soft purring cat in my lap, curling up with a fluffy blanket and a book on a rainy day, walking in nature on a foggy cool morning... It's these sorts of moments, especially when shared with a loved one, that are most precious to me.
-
I have always been a person who feels deeply and intensely. While this can be painful at times, it lends itself to my rebellious spirit, empathetic heart, and creative vision.
-
Personal growth is my greatest passion. The world can only grow and change as much we as individuals are willing to grow and change.

Exist on your own damn terms!
You are not required to be anyone but who you are.
